Why This Site

Welcome to my little obsession with Baltimore Conjuring History. First things first, this website is not a complete history of magic in Baltimore! I doubt such a history could exist. Instead, this site’s purpose is to chronicle various facets of conjuring history in Baltimore that I have personally found interesting and researched. I hope the site will assist other magic researchers and be a resource for some of the lesser known aspects of Baltimore’s magical past. My goal is to ensure this information is not lost to time. 

Second things second, the word “magic” in the context of this website pertains specifically to performance magic: pulling rabbits out of hats, sawing people in half, card tricks, that sort of thing. If you were looking for witchcraft and wizardry, this site is probably not for you, but I’m sure there are plenty of Harry Potter sites that you could have fun reading. 

Although I am not from Baltimore originally, I have lived in the Baltimore area for over two-thirds of my life. Additionally, I have been enamored with and a performer of magic starting from the age of eight. What drove me toward my fascination with magic history and eventually Baltimore’s magic history is explained in more detail on the About Mike page of this website. So if you are curious about my origin story and how I became fascinated with all things conjuring related to Baltimore, that’s the page to read. I’m not trying to be egotistical (okay, maybe a little), but I feel it sometimes helps to better understand a writer if you have an idea of their backstory.  

I hope you’ll enjoy my occasional deep dives into Baltimore’s magical past and that you’ll find the time to check in on this website as it progresses. Please feel free to contact me with your advice, comments and any information you feel relevant to Baltimore Conjuring History.
